Job Description

Portuguese Copyediting Specialist is a remote Portuguese copyediting role for native-fluency editors who can copyedit AI outputs at publication-grade quality. Reviewers fix grammar, syntax, and register at sentence level and document the correction so the training record captures the rule, not just the example.

Responsibilities

• Copyedit Portuguese AI outputs at sentence level for grammar, syntax, and register for Portuguese Copyediting Specialist assignments.
• Apply structured error taxonomies (typo, fluency, register, factual, style) to every correction.
• Write inline annotations that explain why the original phrasing missed the bar.
• Maintain a personal style log of recurring issues and propose rubric updates.
• Adjudicate disputed Portuguese edits in async review threads.
• Calibrate against gold-standard reviews to keep inter-rater agreement above program targets.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native Portuguese writing ability with formal copyediting experience for Portuguese Copyediting Specialist work.
• Comfort with structured error taxonomies and rubric-based judgment.
• Prior work editing, translating, or proofing professional Portuguese content.
• Strong written English to communicate corrections to the modeling team.
• Reliable async availability for at least 10 hours per week.

Example tasks

• Copyedit a 250-word Portuguese model response and tag every change with an error category.
• Adjudicate a disputed register choice between two reviewers in an async thread.
• Propose a rubric clarification after spotting a recurring stylistic miss across a batch.
• Capture a one-line Portuguese style note that other reviewers can apply on similar prompts.

• Editorial credentials at a Portuguese newsroom, publishing house, or translation agency.
• Experience with MQM, DQF, or other translation-quality frameworks.
• Familiarity with LLM evaluation tooling and inter-rater agreement metrics.
