Job Description

The Plumbing Manager oversees customer relations, project execution, scheduling, and team support for plumbing service and construction work. This role manages small bid projects from start to finish, coordinates materials and scheduling, supports technicians and installers in the field, and ensures accurate documentation and a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The Plumbing Manager serves as a central point of contact between customers, field staff, and internal departments to keep projects organized, on time, and aligned with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong focus on achieving 100% customer satisfaction in all interactions and project outcomes.
• Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with new and existing customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding bids, billing questions, job updates, and service needs.
• Field customer inquiries and route questions to the appropriate team member when specialized support is required.
• Follow up with customers to resolve concerns, clarify expectations, and support a positive overall customer experience.
• Manage small bid plumbing projects received from the sales team through completion, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Start, manage, and complete assigned projects with minimal guidance while maintaining accountability for results.
• Create purchase orders and order materials required for jobs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Coordinate bulk orders and assist with material placement, delegation, returns, and credits to support efficient operations.
• Review daily work orders and verify that project documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
• Assist with estimating and job preparation, including gathering information and organizing resources as needed.
• Enter and track warranty claims to ensure proper follow-up and resolution.
• Coordinate with other trades when projects require cross-department support to maintain smooth workflow on job sites.
• Provide assistance to other trades when needed to support overall company operations and project completion.
• Schedule daily jobs and service work orders to optimize technician and installer utilization.
• Forecast future orders and upcoming workload needs to support planning and staffing decisions.
• Coordinate jobs with other department heads to ensure efficient staffing, workflow, and resource allocation.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch to keep schedules accurate, organized, and responsive to changes in the field.
• Maintain and update scheduling tools, including the whiteboard and SFO, to reflect current job status and priorities.
• Serve as the first point of contact for job-related questions from technicians and installers, providing guidance and support.
• Assist with training new employees on procedures and expectations, and coach existing employees on labor-saving ideas and best practices.
• Help position employees in roles and assignments where they can succeed, be challenged, and contribute effectively to team goals.
• Attend weekly meetings with leadership to review performance, discuss priorities, and align on upcoming work.
• Maintain shop inventory and support inventory organization to ensure materials and tools are available when needed.
• Perform product testing according to specifications when required to verify performance and quality.
• Assist with invoicing, permits, inspections, filing, and department paperwork to keep administrative processes current and compliant.
• Help maintain project logbooks and job site documentation to support traceability, accountability, and future reference.
• Support job site safety expectations and company procedures, reinforcing safe work practices with field personnel.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of plumbing equipment, tools, materials, and typical jobsite expectations.
• Ability to understand how plumbing projects are organized, staffed, scheduled, and completed from start to finish.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, coordinate, and support employees working across varying workloads and project types.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project information to guide planning and execution.
• Experience with plumbing systems, including work involving PVC and general construction-related plumbing tasks.
• Strong project management capabilities, including planning, organizing, and tracking multiple active projects.
• Comfort using computers, scheduling systems, work order systems, email, tablets, and related technology to manage daily operations.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines, shifting priorities, and multiple active projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers, technicians, and internal teams.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation, scheduling, and material coordination.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience coordinating materials, purchase orders, returns, credits, and project documentation is preferred.
• Experience in construction or service environments where multiple trades collaborate on shared projects is beneficial.
• Experience working with dispatch or scheduling teams to optimize routes, workloads, and technician assignments is an advantage.
• Familiarity with job cost awareness and efficient use of labor and materials is helpful for supporting labor-saving initiatives.
• Ability to coach and mentor team members to improve efficiency, quality, and customer service.
• Comfort participating in cross-functional meetings and collaborating with other department heads.

Work Environment

This role operates in a mixed office and field-support environment, working closely with dispatch, technicians, installers, and other trades. You will regularly use computers, scheduling systems, work order software, email, tablets, and other digital tools to manage projects, schedules, and documentation. The position involves coordinating shop inventory and materials, supporting job site activities, and maintaining organized scheduling tools such as whiteboards and SFO. Work hours follow standard business operations with the need to respond to shifting priorities and changing job requirements. The role supports active construction and service job sites where adherence to safety expectations and company procedures is essential, and where practical, work-appropriate attire suitable for office and occasional field or shop interaction is required.Exp

This is a Permanent position based out of Wells, MN.

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
